St. Johnâs weed is also known as: St. Johnâs Wort, St. Andrewâs Cross, Peterwort, St Peterâs Wort, and Arrayanilla.

St Johnâs weed is commonly applied to burns and swellings. It can also be taken internally to make labor pains rise. St. Johnâs weed has astringent properties. This herb contains a compound known as hypericin. Hypericin is currently being researched as a treatment for AIDS, cancer, and various viruses. Research has shown this herb to be an effective remedy for mild to moderate depression.

St. Johnâs Weed is also used to treat mild to moderate depression, and headaches accompanied by excitability, hysteria, and neuralgia, especially when these symptoms occur during menopause.
