The Visiting Nurse Service hired public health nurses. They were public health nurses [in training and degree], but their focus was going into the home and doing hospital based treatments…it was like a ‘home care’, but that was before home care. They still have them today you know…they go out to the people who come home from the hospital, check on how they’re doing, dress their wounds, and that sort of thing.
