H&A

H&A on 63rd and Eberhardt in the South Side opened in Chicago in 1945. The family who opened the restaurant brought cooking with them from the South such as succotash, gumbo, grits, chittlins and sweet potatoes which they said connected to slavery. They stated that "African American cuisine is tied to slaves and plantation owners." H&A continues to sell 8000 plates a week to a 99% African American client. They pride themselves in serving hot home cooking. |
