Daley's

Daley's Restaurant Sign

Daley's Restaurant opened in 1896 by a Jewish family who immigrated from Greece in the 1880s. During the height of the Great Migration, as African Americans moved into the area, Jews began to move out of the South Side. With this change, the restaurant clientele and menu transformed to soul food to satisfy customer wants and needs. Daley's, still owned by the same Jewish family, serves traditional southern home cooked meals to a 100% African American clientele and has 42 African American employees.
