Our group researched three newspapers in Alabama and three newspapers in Pittsburgh, as well as a high school newspaper in each area. We decided to focus on newspapers because of their integral part in the migration. Northern newspapers informed potential migrants in the South of job opportunites and working conditions in Northern cities, while Southern newspapers provided a link between those who left and those who stayed in the South.
