Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of the Black Barons who took time to

speak with us. It was an unforgettable experience.

Special thanks to David Brewer and Donnie Harris for helping us organize our interviews,

and teaching us all about Rickwood.

We had an unbelievable time out at the field talking to players and playing ball:

(John, Becky, Elissa, Helen, Rashi, Martha, Kyle, and Denise)

Some members of our class got the chance to enjoy a sunny Saturday morning of fun and baseball down at the field.

Denise, Becky, and Rashi all take a turn at bat.

We loved spending time out on the field, listening to the players

as they recounted their favorite stories from their days as Black Barons.

Martha, Danyelle, and Becky pose with the team.

The players were full of terrific stories, about the team, baseball in general,

race relations in the South, and their own favorite memories.

Our last night in Birmingham, our whole class was lucky enough

to go out to dinner with the players, at Niki's Restaurant, for some good old

Southern cooking.

Many thanks again--it was wonderful!
