Pat Rutka and Wilbur Scotto are the winners of the 1946 Tuskegee Scholarships. Good for full tuition for four years, the scholarships are awarded by the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World to two exceptional high school seniors each year. Click photo or HOME for more.

EASTERN STAR TO ORGANIZE DANCE FOR LOCAL TEENS


Members of the Eastern Star announced tonight their plans to organize a dance for teens in Pittsburgh's Hill District. The party will include a pot-luck supper, music, and dancing. They expect a grand time to be had by all.

A. PHILIP RANDOLPH TO SPEAK TONIGHT AT HIGH SCHOOL


A. Philip Randolph, head of the Union of Pullman Porters, National Negro Congress, and countless other organizations, will speak tonight at Parker High School in Birmingham on the state of African American labor in the country. He plans to share his thoughts on the future of interracial unionism. All Black laborers are encouraged to attend.


Soon the smokestacks will clear at the Dusquene mill and others in the area.
